The Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners has recognized a Philadelphia-area marketing business for its 50th anniversary.
American Advertising Services, located at 29 Bala Avenue, in Bala Cynwyd, PA and its founder, Joseph H. Ball, who continues as American’s CEO received an “Official Commendation” plaque recently from the commission.
The commendation stated that: “American Advertising Services is this region’s longest established advertising agency, founded by one individual, Joe Ball, in 1956, with a $35 Royal Typewriter, working from a desk in his bedroom, which was shared with a ten-year-old sister.
For its other long established clients American Advertising Services has published commemorative books, produced open houses and provided memorabilia symbolic of 50 years in business. Further it has produced time capsule promotions and help set up endowments.
The firm a full-service advertising and public relations company, “has also been commended by the Philadelphia City Council, Pennsylvania Legislature & the United States Congress,” the commission reported.
Over American’s 50-year-history, under Ball’s leadership, other related marketing firms have been spawned, which continue in business.

He originated the “Philadelphia Travel and Vacation Show,” Business Opportunity” & “Women’s Wonderland” consumer shows.
